April showers...or uh the opposite.

The past week we've had a few days of summer-like weather and we took advantage of it! Don't worry, now it's rainy and in the mid 50's again. I'm okay with it, it IS April, not June. You hear that, June, you are NOT supposed to be rainy and cold. Warm and sunny please....okay? Let's remember that in 5 weeks. Geez, June is 5 weeks away?! Crazy. Okay I'm rambling. Again. Here are a few shots of some spring time fun captured by my handy dandy, always-on-my-hip, phone.

Park Day
He's already hitting on chicks at the park. Heaven help me...with those eyes and that hair.

Um, remember how my baby is supposed to be a baby still? Well he doesn't. He wants to be big and tries his darndest to keep up with the big kids. Now that he's walking ALL the time, it's becoming more feasible

Dalton saying "boo" well it sounds more like "bee"

Addie thought it was fun that Dalton could go down the slide too. He loved it!
He also LOVES being pushed around outside in the cozy coupe car. I don't have a picture because I was the one pushing him the other day about 20 times up and down our little hill. It was a work out I tell you, but he was so happy and giggled, so it was worth the effort :)

What, you don't bust out the swimwear in April?
(okay, not you friends who live down south. you wear it in friggin January)
Addie was SO excited to get in her new swimming suit and play outside at Lucy's in the sprinklers and little pool. The water was cold and they didn't really swim, but they had a grand ole time.

Otter pops, water guns, and sunshine. Oh how I look forward to Summer. Addie lives for Summer time. She asks me daily when it's coming and when we can swim, boat and do all things Summer.

Lucy and Addie love each other's guts. Addie keeps telling me they turned into twins. Okay?

Dalton sportin' the shorts, but it looks like man-pris. He likes to push his 4-wheeler around or sit on it and push the buttons.

Addie also had dance pictures and preschool pictures this week. Crazy that another month it'll be over.
Their costumes are poodles, for their poodle dance. I'm pretty stoked to see the outcome at the recital, as I have only seen the bits Addie has performed for me. Moms aren't allowed to go in and watch the practices, since 3-4 year olds are easily distracted. Fine by me. That hour was used each week watching Revenge and Downton Abbey while Dalton napped. #winning.

Sometimes my kid thinks I'm cool/smart for like 2 minutes or so.
Thanks to an idea I saw on Ourbestbites.com Addie and I made a soap cloud the other night.
She was entertained for 20 minutes in the shower with that thing. Awesome.
1 bar of Ivory soap, placed on a sheet of wax paper in the microwave for under 2 minutes does THAT!

My boy. Love him.

 I also love strawberries

Aren't they beautiful?

Addie said, "mom let's take a picture with strawberries! Won't that be funny?!"
She obviously sees my taking pictures of food far too often.

Got these babies today and made some jam out of them tonight.
No worries though, we did consume a pint ourselves. I think Dalton ate half of it. He's become obsessed. If he sees one on the counter he points and screams until you give him one...or two or three. Boy after my own heart. I hope spring has been treating you all well. I can't believe May is almost here! I also can't believe how lame my hair looks in those pictures today...yay for a hair appointment tomorrow!

I'm hoping now that every picture I take on my phone is automatically accessible by blogger I'll blog more often. I feel like I keep posting a billion pictures to twitter, facebook and instagram instead. I like having it all here though. If any of you aren't syncing your photos with google+ on your smartphones, DO IT. Even if you don't share your photos on google+, like me....or the rest of the world. Seriously, poor google +, have they figured out they're just linkin 2.0? Anyway, it's a very cool feature! Especially when your phone is your sole camera for the moment like mine is. Sometimes, I like technology a lot.

Spring has sprung!

I love spring. I love warmth in the air, change in the seasons and an overall feeling of glee as we become less and less quarantined indoors. Being outside makes my kids happy, therefore, it makes me happy. Here's how we've been spending our spring so far....it's a little backwards, since Easter pictures are first, but whatever. The truth is, I don't have any decent pictures of that day or much of anything, so it is what it is.

Easter Weekend
There was egg-dying

as well as egg-hunting with our ward peeps (ha, peeps....Easter...I'm funny.)

Addie picking her lollipops on Easter morning. We planted "magic jellybeans" the night before and they grew overnight! She was in awe.

My handsome boy at church. Let's pause for a moment and dwell on the awesomeness of his suit. I'm basically in love with it. Jed is jealous of it and wants one his size ;)

Best shot I got of the two of them, ah well.

Addie and Eden at great grandma Margaret's house hunting (A LOT!!) of eggs.

Easter egg hunt at grandma and grandpa Rees's house

My messy-haired, worn out, over sugared, and almost-funned-out kids.
This was our last visit of the day, at great grammy Lynette's house.

Even at the end of a long and busy day I think they're pretty cute.

 Other Springtime fun
I have so many pictures of my kids on swings.
I think it's because I love the looks of pure joy and laughter on their faces.

They both love to swing!

Addie "assisted" Dalton on his 4x4 getting down our little hill while I ran inside for 45 seconds.

this is how they rode down....hey he was fine, but I was a little bit concerned when I walked outside and found them halfway down the hill without me.

Dalton LOVES books. He especially loves books with flaps. He opens the flaps and says "hi".
Bedtime story time is a favorite time of day for both of us. :)

Oh heavens....I wish I'd never discovered Lucy's heavenly bites cupcake shop in Ogden.
They are SO GOOD. My neighbor brought me SIX one day for watching her daughter. I contribute them to half the cause of me putting on 4 freaking pounds in the past month! *facepalm*

These would be the other reason....

City Creek.....
I ended up going down to City Creek the evening of its opening with my friend Megan.
Oh my is that place just awesome. Someday, if I'm rich, I think I will just live there. And shop. :)

Come on, even the Harmons grocery store is pretty....

Needless to say I've been back twice more since then.
I love how the retractable roof closes when it's too chilly for outdoor shopping. Sorry gateway, there's a new sheriff in town....

My mom and I went and spent a few (um, 5) hours there one Friday afternoon. It was fun to see all the stores, try clothes on without kids, oh and eat at Gourmandise :)
Let's face it, we don't go there just because they make a decent sandwich.

I ended up going back the next day, the day before Easter, with my kids and Ashley. We weren't there nearly as long ;) Addie was in love with the Disney store and if I'd left her there and come back 4 hours later I don't think that she would have even noticed.

She's always been a shopper and she was right at home at City Creek.
Dalton wasn't as amused and kept looking at me like, are we done yet?

A couple of days before that, it was freezing and snowy. Addie wanted to have a play date with some friends, so we decided to bake some Easter sugar cookies. They all loved cutting out the cookies, frosting them and of course eating them.

Gotta love a bunch of kids playing outside. Dalton will walk the whole length of the open space behind our house with his walker. Tristan thought  the mower rocked and Addie can be happy with a shovel and dirt for hours. This is why I love spring. There are endless options when you can play outside!

I should also mention that Dalton doesn't really need that walker....he's walking.
How did my baby get this big already?

Dalton's birthday/combined party with Skylee

Okay, well these first few pictures are from the day before his birthday, but look how happy he is on a swing. I love it. I love him. Am I obsessed with him? That's okay...there are worse things.

Trying out the new mower. Papa would be proud.

 Dalton's Birthday!

Dalton's actual birthday was pretty chill. He played, then napped, then we went to lunch with Grammy Rees.
She got him a sucker, because he's one. If ever there was a reason right? He was a BIG fan.

I made some mini cupcake push pops for our little family with some extra mini cupcakes and frosting I had in the freezer. Aren't those things fun? I just needed a good reason to break them out and use them :)

We spent the late afternoon hanging out with dad, running some errands and going out for Chinese.

Dalton approved of the cupcake push pops

....as did Addie. I turned away for a second, turned back and hers was GONE.

 Dalton and Skylee's Birthday Party

Dalton and Skylee are only 8 days apart, so we decided that we may as well combine their birthdays together and do one big party. We planned originally to do it at my mom's house. When I saw a 72 degree forecast, however, I told the family to relocate the party to a park near my house. We gave up decorations and details for sunshine and playing outside. The kids were definitely on board with the change. It was WINDY.  It was fun though!

My handsome boys.

Miss Skylee, the birthday girl

She's serious about her cake, back off people!

I love how Dalton's got 3/4 of his cake left and Skylee in the background, has nearly decimated hers. Awesome.

He was a cake pro by this point

Oh, we had ice cream cones too.

Lots of presents!

Check out my mom and her awesome football throwing form ;)

Dalton and grandpa with Chad, Skylee, Bryan and London

No idea what this is about....lol

This Rees/Workman family of ours keeps growing! Those are the 2011 babies. Don't worry, there's going to be another grandbaby before this year is out and I'm sure at least one next year. I love first birthday parties! I can't wait to keep attending them for years to come on both sides of our family. I was a little sad at the end of the day that I'd just thrown my last first birthday for my own.

These little ones just don't stay little long enough!

Dalton, you are a joy and light in my life. I can't imagine life  without you! Addie has a hard time remembering you not being in her life too. She loves you so much and you're so cute together. I adore watching you play and laugh together. It makes my heart happy. I am so grateful you completed our family a year ago. I love you, baby boy!
