Last Sunday we celebrated Dalton's first birthday with the Weller side of the family. I was in denial that he was actually turning one. Since this party was 5 days early, I was able to not be too sad about him turning into a one-year-old. I just kept telling myself, well it's his party, but not his birthday yet.
He sure is a handsome birthday boy.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is Dalton's favorite book, so I thought it'd be a fun and cute party theme to go with. I made some printables by scanning pages of his book and it added some fun detail to the party.
I made these invitations to send out to the guests.
He must be pretty loved. Almost everyone who was invited attended :)
The treat table :)
His caterpillar cupcake cake
It's kind of hard to see all of the different items and cards, but I had all of the things the caterpillar ate throughout the week, one apple, two pears, 3 plums, 3 strawberries, 5 oranges, and then some of the things from his binge on Saturday :) I had cupcakes, chocolate cake, pie pops (made by Ash, for the slice of cherry pie), lollipops, slice of watermelon, and a pickle. Then the nice green leaf he ate on Sunday.
Love my mother in law's pretty beverage dispenser.
Some table decor
I made a few tissue paper pom poms, used wrapping paper for a runner and some party hats for fun. I put some party favors in a square vase to make a centerpiece.
Party favors
Caterpillar decoration in the entry. Gotta love paper lanterns.
Decorated the mantle with some pom poms, a collage of Dalton's cake smash pictures and a banner
Best family picture that we got that day, eh what do you do?
I black and whited this solely because I looked so pale and scary. No idea why.
Food...we had one of Dalton's favorites, baked ziti. We kept the dinner simple and had bread sticks and salad and some watermelon and strawberries that went with the book theme.
Dalton found one of his presents before the gift opening began....once he can touch his feet and go on this thing, he'll be unstoppable.
We shouldn't have let him open the walker first....he wanted to walk/run away and play!
He got some fun gifts and has been playing with them all week. Thanks family, for spoiling our little guy!
Cake time!
Me and my favorite boy
Isn't he so nice? He let me have a taste. I know, you're jealous of the slimy baby slobber frosting :)
Tristan sneaking a second cupcake....he was like a cupcake ninja! See that empty wrapper? That was from the first cupcake....nothin' but crumbs.
He nibbled a bit, but didn't do a ton of damage to his mini cake. Still full of ziti I guess.
Addie was so excited that we let her touch baby Sophia. She came up and asked me to help her reach to wash her hands so she could touch her. Yes, I've raised her to be a germaphobe :)
The two Weller girl grandkids
Dalton is all over the place with that walker. He also got a cute mower that he walks with. Or pushes chairs and other furniture around the wood floor lol.
The kids all helped open his gifts and then they all played and had some fun. They played until the power went out from all the snow and wind. Then it was an ipad and phone lit clean-up til it came back on. Random side note, we didn't use a single flashlight or candle for the almost hour it was off.
Emmett broke in the 4x4 for Dalton :)
He had a great party. I think he had as much fun as a baby who has no idea that the party is for him possibly can. Hey, he got food, cake and toys. What more can an almost-one-year-old-boy want?
Thanks so much to everyone who came. We have such great families! Thanks, grammy and papa for letting us invade your house to fit the whole family.

And you were right. That little suit on Dalton is ADORABLE.
